The Beauty of Nature, One Fiber at a Time

Sometimes, nature provides all the color and character you need! Our Natural Fiber Tasting Packs bring together beautiful undyed fibers, showcasing their natural shades, unique textures, and individual characteristics. Whether you enjoy spinning, needle felting, or wet felting, these natural fibers are ready to inspire your next creative project!

This Pack Includes:
• Suffolk Cross, Natural Grey Wool Top, 1.2 oz
• Icelandic, Natural White, Grey & Black Wool Top, 1.3 oz
• Merino, Natural Grey & White Wool Top, 1.2 oz
• Shetland, Natural White and Moorit Wool Top, 1.2 oz

Suffolk Cross: Suffolk wool, having a dense fleece and a relatively short staple length, is commonly blended with longer staple wools of white, black, and gray, making it easier to spin and work with. It is a fairly bulky top, mostly suitable for outerwear or anything that requires a nice, dense and thick wool. It's officially called "Grey," but I find it more of a cross between grey and a lovely light brown. 80% Suffolk Wool, 20% Half-bred Wool.

Icelandic: Icelandic wool is dense with a good luster and is long. Therefore, it is well suited to combing. This is one of the best felting wools in the world as it is lightweight, water repellent and breathable. 34–36 Micron, average length of 90–100mm. Beautiful natural shades of White, Grey and Black Icelandic minimally blended to produce a natural colored striped effect.

Merino: The Merino breed was developed by Spanish Royalty from breeding the finest of Spain’s sheep with the sheep from North Africa. The result was the finest wool ever produced. To this day, Merino is foundation stock for many other fine wools and Merino types. Our Merino is from South Africa (Cape) or South America, depending on availability, and is from non-mulsed sheep.

Shetland: Certified wool from the Shetland Islands. This wool comes from 700 individual crofters (small farms) that pool their wool clip together and ship it to the mill to be sorted, scoured and processed. This small-scale wool production has been in business for hundreds of years.
